David Mitchell has been crowned the winner of Last One Laughing season two, Prime Video has announced. The Peep Show star outlasted nine other comedians in the series, which began last month with 10 contestants attempting to avoid laughing.
The finale saw four comedians remaining: Mel Giedroyc, Sam Campbell, David Mitchell, and defending champion Bob Mortimer. Giedroyc was eliminated in fourth place after laughing during a face-off with Mortimer, who portrayed an amorous dolphin. Mortimer, the inaugural winner, was then eliminated when he laughed at Mitchell declaring, 'I was just chadwicking!'
With Mitchell and Campbell as the final two, and neither breaking into a smile with one minute left, host Jimmy Carr introduced a deciding round. The contestant who had provoked the most laughter was declared the winner, which was Mitchell. Reflecting on his victory, Mitchell said, 'I think we disappeared into a place where there was no laughter... for all the bleakness at the end, I am delighted to win.'
Prime Video has confirmed that a Halloween special of the show will be released in October, followed by a third series in 2027. Jimmy Carr will host both, with Roisin Conaty returning as his second-in-command.
