Wake Up Dead Man: Benoit Blanc Solves Murder in Knives Out Threequel

Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc in 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery', now streaming on Netflix. The film, directed by Rian Johnson, sees Blanc investigating the stabbing of Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin) during a church service.

The starry cast includes Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church. Blanc works with local police and O'Connor's priest character to dissect the crime.

Blanc discovers that Dr. Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner) planted a dagger with a devil-head ornament, taken from a local bar, into Wicks' robe alongside a blood capsule. By lacing Wicks' drinks flask with tranquilliser, Sharp arranged for the capsule to burst, making it appear Wicks had been stabbed. He then used a moment of privacy to stab him for real.

As Blanc reveals the plot, Glenn Close's Martha Delacroix confesses to orchestrating a plan to stage Wicks' fake resurrection, aiming to extract a jewel swallowed by Wicks' grandfather. She then dies from poison, and the jewel falls from her hand. One year later, the jewel is revealed to be housed in a Christ figure at the head of the church.
