Strictly's Karen Carney Reveals Bruising Injury After Blackpool Performance

Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Carney has revealed the painful toll her dazzling floor spin took on her body, showing off bruises on both legs after rehearsals for the BBC show.

The football star and her professional partner Carlos Gu performed a Paso Doble at the iconic Tower Ballroom in Blackpool last weekend, earning a 10 from all judges except Craig Revel Horwood, who gave them a nine.

Appearing on the spin-off show It Takes Two on Tuesday, Carlos explained the extensive practice required for the move. 'The amount of times we practiced that floor spin, it's countless. And then she had bruises on both sides of her legs,' he said.

Karen admitted to making mistakes in rehearsals but felt the magic of the ballroom helped them deliver. 'When you're in that magical ballroom, I did feel like we turned it on,' she said. 'I've never ever felt like that.'

The pair described the experience as surreal, with Karen adding: 'I looked at it and I was like, is that us? I still watch things and think, oh, we're in that show and that's us.'
