This Morning star Josie Gibson is reportedly in advanced talks to join the cast of Strictly Come Dancing for its 2024 series. The former Big Brother winner has been on the BBC show's radar for several years and was close to signing up three years ago.
According to a source, BBC bosses believe Gibson's down-to-earth charm will be a boost to the programme amid a major shake-up. The show has seen several professional dancers leave their roles, with long-standing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman also reportedly turning their backs on the programme.
Gibson was at the centre of a bidding war between Strictly and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2023, but ultimately joined the ITV jungle, finishing in fourth place. Now, talks with the BBC are said to be progressing well for this year.
The TV personality rose to fame winning Big Brother in 2010 and later joined This Morning as a competition announcer before becoming a regular presenter. She has been open about her weight loss journey and diagnosis with lipoedema.
A source told The Sun: 'Bosses are convinced her down-to-earth charm will be the boost this year's new-look show needs. Warm and engaging, she's just what they require right now.'
The Mirror has approached Strictly and Gibson's representatives for comment.
