John Lewis's 2025 Christmas advert star Jack Aldridge has revealed he kept his role in the high-profile campaign a secret from his family, including his mother, until the advert aired on Tuesday.
Appearing on ITV's This Morning, Aldridge told presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard that he deliberately did not tell anyone about his part. 'I woke up to a message from my mum. I FaceTimed her, she's screaming down the phone, crying. It was worth it to not tell anyone,' he said.
The advert, which debuted on November 4, tells the story of a father and son who bond over the 1990s dance anthem 'Where Love Lives' by Alison Limerick. Aldridge said the story resonated with him personally: 'I could only come at it from my own experiences with my dad, and connecting to my dad through music.'
He also revealed that during the audition process, he was not told what the advert was for. 'They didn't tell me through the audition process what it was. And I didn't speculate,' he added. Ben Shephard joked that Aldridge's mother would be 'furious' at being kept in the dark.
