In Sunday night's episode of Coronation Street, Jodie Ramsey finally confessed to her sister Shona that she attacked Sarah Platt on the night of Theo's murder. The confession has sparked fan speculation that the controversial character may be leaving the soap.
Jodie's Mysterious Arrival and Behaviour
Jodie, played by Olivia Frances Brown, arrived in Weatherfield earlier this year during a crossover with Emmerdale, found tied up in the back of a van. Since then, she has been involved in several suspicious activities, including stealing items from neighbours and attempting to impersonate Shona at the hospital.
Viewers have known for months that Jodie attacked Sarah on the night in April when Sarah killed abusive Theo Silverton. Sarah, portrayed by Tina O'Brien since 1999, struck Theo with a pole in self-defence.
Shona Confronts Jodie
Shona, played by Julia Goulding, forced the confession from Jodie after David, Shona's husband, visited Sarah in prison and learned that Jodie had hit her over the head to hide a trinket box. Back at home, Shona confronted Jodie, who admitted the attack but then claimed she was protecting Sarah by not telling anyone. Shona reacted with disbelief and ordered Jodie to leave the house.
Later, Shona grew worried when Jodie did not return. Meanwhile, David's daughter Lily found the trinket box and discovered the gun Jodie had stolen weeks earlier.
Fans Predict Exit
Reacting to the scenes, fans took to social media to express their hopes that Jodie's time on the show is ending. One fan wrote: "Really hope Jodie gets put away soon…not sure why she’s there, and what happened to her dad?" Another said: "Hoping it’s the end of Jodie soon." However, a third fan doubted a permanent exit, commenting: "Soap is unbelievable so Shona has found out Jodie has attacked Sarah and you watch in a few weeks they will be friends again and living together."
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
