The second season of Netflix's hit series Wednesday is set to premiere on Wednesday, August 6, and the show's popularity has attracted a host of new stars. Among the fresh faces confirmed for the new episodes are Joanna Lumley, Lady Gaga, and several other well-known actors.
Joanna Lumley, best known for her role in Absolutely Fabulous, will play Grandma Hester Frump, Morticia's mother. The character is a wealthy tycoon behind Frump Mortuaries, one of the most successful outcast-owned businesses in America, described as emotionally cold and armed with a razor-sharp tongue. Lady Gaga, meanwhile, will appear as Nevermore Academy teacher Rosaline Rotwood, with further details of her role being kept under wraps.
Steve Buscemi joins the cast as Principal Barry Dort, the polar opposite of his predecessor Larissa Weems. He champions outcast pride but takes it to extremes, promoting normie exclusion. Billie Piper, known for her work in Doctor Who, will play Isadora Capri, the new head of music and a former child prodigy who takes an interest in Wednesday's musical talents. Christopher Lloyd, the iconic actor from Back to the Future and the 1991 film The Addams Family, portrays Professor Orloff, Nevermore's most tenured educator.
Thandiwe Newton will appear as Dr Rachael Fairburn, a normie and pioneer in outcast mental health who serves as the head psychiatrist at Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility. She oversees the treatment of Tyler Galpin, the monster Hyde from season one. Other new cast members include Heather Matarazzo, recognised for her role in The Princess Diaries.
