Jane McDonald has announced she is leaving ITV1's Loose Women after six years to focus on her music career. The 47-year-old former cruise ship performer made the announcement on today's show, saying she is leaving the door open for a return.
McDonald, who shot to fame on the BBC reality show The Cruise in the 1990s, said: 'There just isn't enough time to do everything. I am going to be taking some time out from Loose Women purely because things are going to be a bit hectic over the next few months.'
She added: 'I have had an absolute ball over the last six years and am going to miss everyone so much. But don't worry, when it's calmed down a bit I'll be back.'
After saying goodbye to co-hosts Lynda Bellingham, Carol McGiffin and Denise Welch, McDonald will tour the UK and Australia. She is also working on a new DVD and album.
The Yorkshire-born singer first found fame on The Cruise before becoming a daytime TV presenter. Her debut album spent three weeks at number one in the UK charts, and she has also performed in the West End.
