Jacob Elordi: I was locked in a coffin with a real snake for Euphoria death scene

Jacob Elordi has revealed that he spent two days locked in a coffin with a real snake while filming the death of his character, Nate, in the third season of Euphoria. The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with guest host and fellow Euphoria star Colman Domingo, where he discussed the gruesome scene.

Elordi explained that he was “locked in a coffin for two days straight with prosthetics and a fake tongue,” and could not see out of his eyes. He added that series creator Sam Levinson then put snakes into the coffin, with a boa constrictor joining him for the shoot.

The boa constrictor was transformed into a deadly rattlesnake for the show, but Elordi said the reptile had “a very nice personality” and was “very docile and very sleepy.” He recalled: “I was kind of nudging him, trying to get him to get active and do the scene, because he was meant to be threatening. But he was like a little dog. He just kept curling up at my feet.”

Elordi also joked about the physical toll of the season, saying: “I think Sam brought me back to torture me. It was like, six weeks of me just getting beat by a seven-foot guy. I was just running the whole time.” He reflected on the show’s impact, declaring: “It really changed my whole life. It’s an incredible thing.”

The actor’s next film, Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, premieres on August 28.
