ITV has acquired the hit US drama series The Affair, which originally aired on Showtime from 2014 to 2019. The first three series will be available to stream on ITVX from March 13, with series four arriving in summer and the fifth and final series in 2027.
Created by Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi, the show stars Dominic West and Ruth Wilson as Noah and Alison, who begin an intimate relationship while each is married to other people. The cast also includes Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson as their respective spouses.
The Affair received widespread critical acclaim during its run, including a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama. The Daily Telegraph described the lead performances as 'astonishing', and fans have praised the show, with one calling it an 'absolute masterpiece' and another saying they binge-watched it in 'a few days'.
In related news, ITVX has also made the survival thriller Yellowjackets available to stream. Seasons one and two of the Showtime series, which follows a high school football team after a plane crash, were added on February 15. The show has won over 20 awards and will conclude with its fourth season.
