Plot and Cast
Adapted from GR Halliday's novel 'From the Shadows,' the six-part series follows DI Monica Kennedy (Laura Donnelly) and her new partner DC Connor Crawford (Mark Rowley) as they hunt a serial killer in the Scottish countryside. The cast also includes Helen Baxendale. The synopsis describes a tense cat-and-mouse game where fear spreads through a rural community and secrets unravel.
Viewer Complaints
Within minutes of the premiere, viewers took to social media to complain about the sound. One wrote: '#Thedark #itv I've had to put the subtitles on.. the audio is low, and I can't understand them.' Another said: 'Had to put subtitles on for #Thedark.' A third added: '#thedark audio needs putting through Google translate and the unnecessary background music killing completely.'
Seasonal Timing
