England secured a 2-0 victory over Czechia in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday, but many ITV viewers were left unimpressed with the broadcast, complaining about the commentary and background noise.
Mark Pougatch presented live coverage of the match at the Fortuna Arena in Prague, joined by pundits Roy Keane and Ian Wright, with commentary from Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon.
Viewers complain about commentary and whistling
Several fans took to social media to express their frustration. One person wrote on X: "Might have to turn over this England game, the whistling is so grating." Another added: "This commentary on the England match is so lifeless and dull. It's really starting to p*** me off just how bad it is."
A third viewer said: "God this ITV commentary on England is so very, very boring." Someone else commented: "Watching #czeeng on ITV. Commentators could do with being a little less biased towards England? You're supposed to give us a factual commentary, not one I can get from the fans."
A fifth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: "This is why I can't stand watching England on ITV. The commentary is terrible."
England's victory and pundits' remarks
Despite the complaints, other viewers were delighted by the match, which saw Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane each score for England. "What a finish," one excited fan wrote on Instagram. Another added: "Can't stop watching this." A third said: "Great match."
Before the match, pundits Roy Keane and Ian Wright discussed Manchester City, after it was revealed that City had been found guilty by an independent commission on all but one of the 115 charges levelled against them, with accusations spanning from 2009 to 2018. "It's cheating on an industrial scale. It's quite surreal seeing it written down like that," Ian said. "The amount of stick I've taken off that. Unprecedented punishment is required here. It's a massive day for the Premier League. They've taken on a whole country, massive. Very messy."
