ITV has dropped a first-look image of an upcoming police drama. Starring Richard Armitage and Annabel Scholey, Winter is set to hit screens later this year, as announced in the broadcaster’s plans for the upcoming months.
Plot and Characters
The six-part thriller follows the Red Eye actor play an unconventional forensic pathologist, whose rule-breaking approach and sharp intellect aids in solving complicated police murder cases. He joins forces with The Split actress Annabel’s character DI Lauren Bell, who is just as driven as Winter in solving their cases.
The synopsis teases: “Set in Bristol, Dr Ethan Winter is one of the most gifted pathologists of his generation. He possesses an extraordinary analytical mind, capable of impeccable deductive reasoning which perfectly complements DI Lauren Bell.”
Cast and Source Material
The cast will also include Jamie Kenna, Carlotta Banat, Josh Barrow, Adwoa Akoto, Jay Taylor, Rishi Rian, Deirdre Mullins, Ellis Elijah and Evie Coles. The drama is based on French series Balthazar, which ran for five seasons before coming to an end in 2023.
Starring Tomer Sisley in the leading role, Balthazar, which is also available to watch on ITVX, was hailed “addictive” by fans. One wrote: “Totally addicted to this show. Balthazar is so funny nut poignant at the same time. The interaction and dynamics between him and "Capitain" are awesome. I watch one episode a day to make the series last.”
