Love Island star Faye Winter has announced the death of her beloved Golden Retriever, Blondie, describing the 17-year-old as her 'longest childhood friend'. The 28-year-old, who appeared on the ITV dating show in 2021, shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, October 21, writing: 'Yesterday we said goodbye to my longest childhood friend of 17 years.'
In an emotional post addressed to her 1.2 million followers, Winter revealed that Blondie would have turned 18 next month. 'You never wanted for anything, you came to us terrified of men and became our dad's best friend,' she wrote. 'You loved unconditionally and gave everything right up until the end. Our hearts are broken.'
The reality star thanked the veterinary team at Vets for Pets UK in Newton Abbot for their 'kindness and support' in Blondie's final moments, adding: 'We have no words.' The news comes a month after Winter expressed gratitude for her new puppy, Bonnie, who she credited with helping her through a breakup and her move from London to Devon.
Winter had previously spoken about the bond with her one-year-old dog, telling OK! magazine: 'I never would have gotten through the stuff I have without her. She was my constant.' Her rise to fame came on Love Island, where she had a rocky relationship with Teddy Soares, before the pair announced their split in February 2023.
