ITV has reportedly shelved the reality show The Fortune Hotel, leaving its future uncertain despite strong viewership. The programme, hosted by Stephen Mangan, launched in May 2024 and aired a second series in August 2025, positioning itself as a rival to the BBC's The Traitors.
The format involved ten pairs of contestants staying at The Fortune Hotel, each receiving a briefcase. One contained £250,000, eight were empty, and one held the Early Checkout Card, which forced the holders to leave the competition. Contestants competed in challenges to deduce who had the cash, culminating in a tense case exchange at the Lady Luck bar.
ITV confirmed that no new series has been commissioned, with talks ongoing. The network noted that both series are available on ITVX, where the show regularly ranked among the top ten. The second series garnered 4.4 million streams during ITV's biggest ever August.
The most recent winners, Nella and Tope, took home £210,000 after defeating rivals Fred and Min, and Martina and Briony. The first series was won by Sheffield mother-and-son duo Jo-Anne and Will, who also secured £210,000.
