ITV’s This Morning suffered an unexpected 12-minute blackout during Monday’s live broadcast, leaving viewers staring at a static apology screen. The glitch struck while hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were interviewing adventurer Ben Fogle about a recent parliamentary vote.
ITV later confirmed the loss of transmission was caused by a fault at BT Tower, which disrupted the live feed. “We would like to apologise to This Morning viewers… We are in contact with BT to establish the cause of this issue,” a spokesperson said.
Social media erupted with jokes and theories. Showbiz reporter Rylan Clark-Neal quipped he had “pulled the plug” after being snubbed for a Victoria Beckham interview. Vicky Pattison, making her debut as a reporter on the show, lamented: “My big This Morning debut, man, and it’s not even going out.”
When the programme finally returned, Schofield appeared confused, reading tweets about the outage. He later confirmed the crew had continued filming as normal during the disruption, unaware it was not being broadcast.
