ITV has decided not to broadcast the final episode of its drama Viewpoint on Friday as planned, following allegations of sexual harassment against its star, Noel Clarke. The broadcaster said it was "no longer appropriate" to show the episode after The Guardian reported allegations from 20 women who knew Clarke in a professional capacity.
Sky has also halted its work with Clarke, including the fourth series of crime drama Bulletproof, and production company Vertigo Films has removed him from any productions. Sky said it had not received any previous reports of misconduct but stands against all forms of harassment.
Clarke, 45, known for Kidulthood and Doctor Who, has "vehemently" denied any sexual misconduct or wrongdoing, stating he intends to defend himself against what he called "false allegations". He apologised if anyone had ever felt uncomfortable or disrespected working with him.
The finale of Viewpoint will still be available on ITV Hub for a limited time for viewers who wish to watch its conclusion. Meanwhile, Bafta has suspended Clarke weeks after awarding him the outstanding British contribution to cinema prize, saying the allegations are "extremely serious" and contrary to its values.
