Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans are facing the latest disruption to their soap viewing as ITV has confirmed a shake-up to its schedule this week.
After a number of changes to the airing of the long-running shows, filmed in Leeds and Salford respectively, over the summer due to coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the return of the football season looks set to cause more disruption in the coming weeks and months.
Dramatic Scenes Ahead in Emmerdale
There are dramatic scenes ahead in Emmerdale that will see lives change forever, as Dawn Fletcher is planning to jilt her fiancé, Joe Tate, on their wedding day and leave the village forever with her ex, Billy Fletcher.
But as this is soap land, things won’t go to plan, and the day ends in tragedy, with the consequences having ramifications that will impact villagers' lives for years to come.
Sarah Platt's Struggle in Coronation Street
Meanwhile, over in Weatherfield, an imprisoned Sarah Platt's struggles continue. As she's being blackmailed by prison mate Kacey, a frightened Sarah looks at her photo of Harry with his face scrubbed out.
When Kacey enters, she mentions missing pool balls from the recreation room. Soon, she reminds Sarah she needs her ex, Kit Green's, help and shows her some pictures of Harry at his new friend's house. A distraught Sarah calls Adam Barlow, who confirms Harry is at Lottie’s house and urges him to collect him and keep him close.
Later, in her cell, Sarah stuffs the stolen pool balls into a sock, creating a makeshift weapon. When she hears voices outside her cell and pulls out her sock weapon in readiness. Soon, Sarah approaches Kacey’s cell, clutching her makeshift weapon. What is Sarah going to do?
When to Watch This Week
On Tuesday (August 25) there will be no episode of either soap on ITV1 to make way for coverage of the EFL Carabao Cup game instead.
Nottingham Forest will take on Leeds United in the cup clash with coverage starting at 7.30pm and kick-off at 8pm, therefore replacing the usual 'soap power hour' from 8pm to 9pm.
To make up for the change, a new episode of the ITV soaps will air this Sunday (August 30), with Emmerdale starting at its usual time of 8pm, followed by Corrie at 8.30pm.
