ITV has confirmed that Jeremy Clarkson's quiz show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, will be replaced by live football coverage next week. The final episode of the current run airs tonight, Wednesday, August 5, at 9pm, before the show takes a break.
Pre-season friendly to air in its place
The time slot will be taken over by ITV's live coverage of a pre-season friendly between Manchester United and Leeds United. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7pm and will air for almost three hours, taking place at Croke Park in Dublin.
According to the official synopsis, this is the first time the 80,000-capacity venue has hosted a club association football match. The description notes that while it is a friendly in name, it is likely to be highly competitive given the historic rivalry between the teams.
Coverage will be led by presenter Hugh Woozencroft, with analysis from John O'Shea and Michael Brown, and commentary from Sam Matterface and Lucy Ward.

Clarkson has been in the headlines recently due to the return of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video, where season five revealed he had prostate cancer. It has since been confirmed that he is now officially in remission.
Additionally, it was announced today, August 5, that Clarkson will reunite with his former Grand Tour co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond. The trio will make cameo appearances in the reboot to 'pass the baton on' to new hosts, YouTubers Thomas Holland and James Engelsma. The Grand Tour season seven is set to air on Friday, September 4.
