Coronation Street delivered a major Yasmeen Nazir revelation as Idris Nazir unveiled a shocking family secret and his ulterior motive. Idris, played by Junade Khan, made his debut on the cobbles in May as the newest member of the Nazir family. Since arriving, he quickly struck up a relationship with Leanne Battersby and brought Brody Michaelis into his business ventures.
In Tuesday's episode, after Leanne mentioned that Alya Nazir was struggling to balance her legal career with running the family restaurant Speed Daal, Idris approached a taken-aback Alya about purchasing her stake in the business. Alya confessed that Speed Daal had never truly been her passion, but she maintained her ownership out of loyalty to her grandmother Yasmeen.
Family Secret Revealed
However, Idris later dropped an explosive family revelation when he disclosed his true identity, as reported by the Daily Star. He revealed he was not actually her cousin but rather her uncle, following an affair between Yasmeen's husband, Alya's grandfather Sharif Nazir, and Idris' mother. This makes Idris the half-brother of the late Kal Nazir, and therefore Alya's uncle.
Idris explained this was why he did not attend Kal's funeral in 2015, citing the complex family dynamics, and remarked: "I'm surprised Yasmeen never told you the truth! Even when she found out exactly what sort of person Sharif was." He continued: "I don't want it to sound like I'm blaming Yasmeen. I mean, my mum swore me to secrecy."
Alya was left baffled by the revelation, questioning: "I just don't understand why my gran didn't tell me when she chucked my granddad out.." She continued: "I need to call her..." before suddenly recalling: "She's on holiday in Pakistan!", delivering an update on Yasmeen, who departed Coronation Street in 2025 after 11 years on the cobbles.
Ulterior Motive Exposed
Having overheard the family drama unfold, Leanne found amusement in having been romantically involved with both brothers, owing to her previous relationship with Kal. However, she was quickly taken aback upon learning of Idris' ulterior motive as he confessed: "Well, Alya needed to know her gran's been keeping a secret from her. And hey, maybe she loses a bit of loyalty to Yasmeen, she'll be more likely to sell this place to me. But just keep that to yourself for now, yeah? I want a pick-me moment. Like you say, she's sleeping on this place. You and me running it together could make a killing."
