Ian Beale has been sentenced to eight months in prison for the accident that injured young Jordan, and the courtroom erupted as Kathy slapped Chelsea Fox after the verdict.
Courtroom violence
Kathy was disgusted with Chelsea, who arrived too late to intervene in the sentencing. Chelsea's earlier decision to stay silent about her own role in the incident meant Ian carried all the blame. In a furious outburst, Kathy delivered a stinging slap to Chelsea's cheek.
Chelsea's guilt
Chelsea has been struggling with guilt, knowing she played a part by shouting at Jordan and walking away before he was hit. Actress Zaraah Abrahams said: 'She has been overwhelmed. She believes she played a part in what happened for shouting at Jordan and not keeping an eye on him and has struggled with her decision to stay silent. While coping with Denise’s diagnosis and focusing on Jordan’s recovery, she’s been torn between supporting her son and facing the truth, knowing Ian has carried all of the blame.'
Abrahams added: 'Chelsea’s own guilt has been building for a long time, and conversations with her family only strengthen her feeling that she can’t keep the secret any longer. With Jordan recovering well, she sees a chance to put things right and potentially help Ian.'
Dire consequences ahead
Ian now faces life behind bars, where he is unlikely to become top dog. Chelsea is left with crushing guilt and the ongoing trauma of Denise's battle with cancer. Unbeknownst to her, Sheila has a secret plan with Gray Atkins that places Jordan at the centre of more trouble.
Abrahams teased: 'Viewers can expect an emotional rollercoaster, with plenty of twists and turns ahead. As the consequences of her actions continue to unfold, Chelsea will be forced to face some difficult truths and make tough choices.'
