The Dublin-set period drama, created by the mind behind Peaky Blinders, made its debut on the platform last year and holds a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics have described the series as a 'riveting and cinematic sensation' and 'dazzling television'. Despite its success, the show's return was not guaranteed, given Netflix's history of cancelling titles that appear popular. This year alone, The Boroughs, The Waterfront, The Abandons, and The Residence were shelved despite spending significant time in the platform's most-watched charts.
The confirmation that production will not begin until 2027 has frustrated dedicated fans, who argue the new season should already be in the works.
