Netflix has confirmed that the historical drama House of Guinness will return for a second season, with production scheduled to begin in early 2027. The announcement ends a wait of almost two years since the Irish series first debuted on the streaming platform.
Creator Steven Knight reacts to renewal
Creator and writer Steven Knight shared his excitement about continuing the story, saying: “It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I'm beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world's greatest dynasties into season two.
“I can't wait to dive deeper into these characters and their complex relationships as they expand the Guinness empire.”
Potential release date timeline
Netflix confirmed that “production is due to begin in early 2027”. The first series took around eight months to film, followed by another eight months before the premiere. Based on that timeline, if filming starts in January 2027, season two may not arrive until at least April 2028.
When it returns, the series will again see the “Guinness family wrestle with ambition, intrigue and forbidden love”.
Season one cliffhanger
Season one ended with a dramatic political rally as Arthur Guinness (Anthony Boyle) fought to retain his late father’s seat in Parliament. In the final moments, Fenian Brotherhood leader Patrick Cochrane (Seamus O’Hara) aimed a revolver at Arthur and fired a single shot, with the screen cutting to black before viewers learned his fate.
Despite the wait, the drama is confirmed to continue. House of Guinness is available to watch on Netflix.
