Hollyoaks Star Oscar Curtis Opens Up About Return and Finding Peace

Hollyoaks actor Oscar Curtis has spoken about his return to the soap and how he has 'found peace' during his extended break. Curtis, who plays Lucas Hay, has been away since his character was sent to prison in March.

In a Q&A on Instagram, Curtis admitted he needed a break from filming. 'I think I was filming most days for three days straight. You need a little bit of a break and it just came at a perfect time with the story - the character going into prison and everything,' he said. However, he expressed happiness at being back, despite initial nerves: 'Now that I'm back - honestly, the first day, you're just s****ing it because it's your first day again. But after a couple of days of filming, it's just like you never left and it's brilliant.'

When asked about the best advice he'd received, Curtis shared how he had learned to love himself more. His manager told him to 'be fully yourself' when meeting people, avoiding trying to say what others want to hear. 'In doing that, I found a lot of peace in being myself and learned to love myself more,' he added.

Fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Curtis back on screen. A source told Digital Spy that Lucas will return to the village after being released from jail, aiming to make a fresh start with his dad Ste, following their child-to-parent abuse storyline. More drama is expected, especially with Lucas's boyfriend Dillon (Nathanial Dass) having left the show.

Dass confirmed his exit, saying he was 'gutted' but ready to move on, and appreciated the open door for a potential return. Curtis has resumed filming, though his reappearance as Lucas has not yet aired.
