Kieron Richardson and Gregory Finnegan have broken their silence on the dramatic reunion of Ste Hay and James Nightingale in Hollyoaks. The actors discussed the long-awaited moment for fans, which began airing this week.
James, presumed dead after a car explosion in September 2024, was revealed to be alive during the soap's 30th anniversary episodes in October. However, Ste remained unaware until the January 6 episode, where he initially thought he was hallucinating seeing his husband.
James explained his decision to flee the village, believing Ste was in love with Rex Gallagher. Richardson said: 'Ste has to get over the shock of James returning... It’s been great to work with Greg, who is so great and giving as an actor that it’s felt special again.'
Finnegan added: 'The moment we’ve been waiting for is finally upon us. James and Ste... are about to come face to face once more... I can’t wait for the fans to see what happens.'
Upcoming scenes will see an overwhelmed Ste struggling to forgive James for making him grieve. Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday on E4 at 7pm, with first-look episodes available on Channel 4 from 7am.
