Hollyoaks has launched a unique competition to celebrate its 30th anniversary, offering one lucky fan the chance to appear on the show as the latest victim of serial killer Jez Blake. The Channel 4 soap, set in Chester, has been a staple of British television since 1995 and now wants to give back to its dedicated fanbase.
In a TikTok video, actresses Nadine Mulkerrin (Cleo McQueen) and Anna Passey (Sienna Blake) announced the competition, asking: "How much of a Hollyoaks superfan are you?" They explained that the winner will be invited to the village to film an exclusive scene, but with a killer twist: their character will be killed off by the show's most notorious serial killer.
Chief Content Officer at Channel 4, Ian Katz, promoted the competition on LinkedIn, calling it a "soap first" and offering fans "a slice of TV immortality - by dying on screen for it." The winner will become the latest victim of Jez, played by Jeremy Sheffield, who has already killed Dilly Harcourt and Abe Fielding since arriving in the village, and has a long history of murder dating back decades.
This week on Hollyoaks, Jez and John Paul's wedding day arrives, but John Paul gets cold feet as the walls close in on the serial killer and his affair with Liberty. Fans have taken to social media to express their fears that Jez might kill John Paul, with one writing: "Need people to stop saying Jez is going kill John Paul because I can not handle that."
To enter, fans must explain why they are Hollyoaks' biggest superfan. The competition is open now, with details available at Hollyoaks.com/competition.
