Hit Point, a new six-part crime thriller starring Nick Blood and Saffron Hocking, airs tonight (August 13) at 9pm on U&Dave, U and U&Drama. The series, created by BAFTA-winning screenwriter Howard Overman, is U&Dave's first original scripted drama.
Detectives Leo and Bella
The show follows detectives Leo and Bella, played by Nick Blood and Saffron Hocking, whose latest case pulls them into the perilous West London criminal underworld. The drama blends crime, action, dark humour and romance, with the broadcaster promising "edge-of-your-seat action, high-stakes drama, and a gripping storyline".
Episode one, titled "Double Yolker", opens with an investigation that raises more questions than answers. A lion, a fox and a panther – or possibly a jaguar – feature in an astonishing robbery. There is a non-lethal bullet, millions of pounds missing and a series of conflicting clues that leave Leo and Bella struggling to establish what has occurred.
High-stakes chase
While the detectives begin assembling the puzzle, the criminals are doing everything they can to stay one step ahead of the law. Matters escalate when Pascal, the merciless uncle of Lucas, arrives. Played by Emily in Paris star William Abadie, Pascal demands his money back – and he isn't willing to wait.
What first appears to be a straightforward heist quickly becomes something far more complex. As Leo and Bella try to piece together the puzzle, their developing chemistry adds another risky element.
Commissioning ambition
UKTV's head of drama commissioning, Helen Perry, said Hit Point would be "a cop show like no other". She added: "With his singular voice, Howard has crafted a tense crime thriller that's driven by a characterful will-they-won't romance. It's a distinctive genre mash-up, full of heart, humour and action-packed sequences."
She also said: "It's the perfect first scripted drama commission for U&Dave and U, and a marker of our ambition for drama on the channel."
