High Potential Season 2 Finale Cliffhanger Leaves Fans Stunned

The season 2 finale of Disney+'s crime thriller High Potential ended with a shocking cliffhanger, leaving the fate of a key character uncertain. In the final episode, titled 'Family Tree', police captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey) is found gravely injured from a gunshot wound, with the screen fading to black before viewers learn if he survives.

Lead actress Kaitlin Olson, who plays Morgan, discussed the character's arc and the unresolved mystery. She told Variety: 'We wanted to have a little bit of a mystery, and we also wanted to stump Morgan. It was very important to me that she's not always right about everything.' Olson added that Morgan's emotional reaction to Wagner's injury changes everything, saying to People: 'Now more than ever, now that somebody that she deeply cares about got really hurt or is potentially dead, everything changed.'

Howey was only contracted as a series regular for one season, though a guest appearance remains possible. Olson confirmed that discussions about Wagner's fate are ongoing, stating: 'It's definitely being discussed... There is a lot on the table. There are so many places that we can go.' The show is also searching for a new showrunner ahead of the confirmed third season.
