Gordon Ramsay's HexClad Cookware Reviewed: Is It Worth the Hype?
HexClad Cookware Reviewed: Worth the Hype?

HexClad, the cookware brand backed by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, has gone viral on social media, with influencers praising its hybrid technology. The LA-founded brand's range includes pots, frying pans, and woks, promising the performance of stainless steel, the durability of cast iron, and the convenience of non-stick. It also claims excellent temperature control, oven- and metal utensil-safe surfaces, and easy cleaning, with everything being dishwasher-safe.

What Makes HexClad Different?

Daniel Winer, CEO at HexClad, explains the brand's philosophy: “Whether it’s through breakthrough technology, thoughtful design or expanding into new categories, we’re constantly pushing ourselves to create products that challenge expectations and elevate the way people cook and live.” He adds: “Our approach to technology goes far beyond a single innovation. We combine proprietary engineering, premium materials and rigorous testing to create products that are built to perform for years to come. That commitment to quality is reflected not only in how our products perform, but in our confidence to back them with a lifetime warranty.”

As a keen home cook, I tested the HexClad range to see if it lives up to the hype. The Kitchen All Star Bundle, which includes the brand's best-selling pan, a pot, and a deep sauté pan, is priced at £387 and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Testing the HexClad Range

The 25cm Hybrid Pan with Lid (£169) is excellent for frying. It offers great heat distribution on a hot plate and is perfect for frying eggs, searing chops, and everyday cooking. The laser-etched, stainless-steel hexagonal design features ridges that boost searing power, while the 'valleys' have the brand's ceramic non-stick tech that is non-toxic and easy to clean.

The 3l Deep Sauté Pan with Lid (£169) is great for searing and simmering. It has high, straight sides that reduce splatter but are low enough for a good sear on meat before stewing or braising. The handle is well-placed, and the pan delivers a good-quality sear while being non-stick, especially for salmon. It is oven-safe up to 480ºC.

The 2l Hybrid Pot with Lid (£139) is suited for boiling, steaming, and warming. It is perfectly sized for small, speedy cooks. All three pieces feature tri-ply construction with an aluminium core for fast and even heating, and stay-cool, stainless-steel handles. The lids invert, allowing for easy stacking and storage.

Is HexClad Worth It?

Are the HexClad pans worth the hype? Absolutely, I think. They look and feel great, are beautifully and cleverly designed, and serve up consistent results. The lids can be inverted, so everything stacks and stores easily, saving cupboard space. In short, they are solid investment pieces for those who are serious about their cooking. Go for the bundle with a trio of pans for every task.
