Helen Skelton made a dramatic exit from the set of BBC Breakfast after a confusing exchange about Brussels sprouts. The Morning Live presenter playfully abandoned co-host Gethin Jones following a misunderstanding over the pronunciation of the word 'raw'.
During the Friday, December 19 edition of BBC Breakfast, the programme crossed to the Morning Live duo to preview their upcoming segments. The conversation turned to Brussels sprouts, with the hosts discussing various ways to prepare the Christmas vegetable. An amusing mix-up occurred when Helen believed Gethin thought she was saying 'roar' instead of 'raw'.
After clarifying the confusion, Helen theatrically declared 'Bye!' and exited the frame, leaving Gethin standing alone looking bewildered. The unexpected move left BBC Breakfast presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt in stitches, with Naga noting, 'Gethin is still there!'
Earlier, the duo had been discussing their plans for a segment on sprouts. Helen remarked, 'It wouldn't be Christmas without sprouts. But with millions of haters out there, we are attempting to change some minds.' She added that they would be using 'secret herbs and spices' to elevate the vegetable.
Naga Munchetty revealed she had tried raw sprouts for the first time and found them 'really nice', which sparked the confusion. Gethin initially seemed puzzled by her statement, leading Helen to demonstrate the difference between eating something raw and roaring. Upon understanding, Gethin let out a small roar, prompting Helen's humorous departure.
