Helen Skelton, known for her role on BBC Morning Live, is among the TV stars tipped to replace Naga Munchetty on BBC Breakfast. Long-standing presenter Naga has announced she is set to exit the BBC programme, and it is thought another female TV host would take the role alongside Charlie Stayt.
Odds and Favourites
Coral bookmakers has revealed Helen is one of the favourites, with odds of 5/1 to replace Naga. However, current BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent is the odds-on favourite at 1/2, often hosting with Jon Kay.
Other contenders include Sarah Campbell at 7/1, Steph McGovern at 6/1, Tina Daheley at 8/1, Emma Vardy at 10/1, and Luxmy Gopal at 12/1. Victoria Derbyshire is also in the mix at 14/1.
Naga's Departure
Naga confirmed last month she is leaving BBC Breakfast to present 5 Live Breakfast five days a week from January. In a statement, she said: "It has been a privilege to be part of the BBC Breakfast TV team for the past 17 years, working alongside an incredibly talented and hard-working group of journalists who are not only outstanding colleagues but also great friends."
She added: "Presenting a flagship programme on 5 Live is an opportunity that was simply too good to pass up. It will take a huge amount of work and require 100% of my focus and energy, and I'm really looking forward to throwing myself into the role."
Coral’s John Hill commented: "Sally Nugent is already a familiar face on BBC Breakfast, and our odds makes her the clear favourite to replace Naga Munchetty on the popular early-morning programme." BBC Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One.
