Helen Flanagan, best known for her role as Rosie Webster on Coronation Street, has revealed she is keen to return to the cobbles. The actress, who first appeared on the show in 2000 at the age of nine, left the role permanently in 2018 after a brief return following maternity leave.
In a recent interview with the Echo while starring in a production of The Memory of Water at the Liverpool Everyman, Flanagan stated, 'Honestly if they want me to come back, I’d love to, but [show bosses] just haven’t spoke to me.' She added that she is ready to focus on acting now that her children are at school.
This is not the first time Flanagan has publicly expressed interest in returning. She previously told The Sun last year, 'I’d love to go back to Coronation Street, but they just haven’t asked me, I live around the corner, but they just haven’t asked me.'
Flanagan's autobiography, Head & Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie, details her struggles during her time on the soap, including an incident where co-star Antony Cotton allegedly mocked her for being on medication. She also discussed a storyline where her character was sexualised as a teenager, which she now feels was inappropriate.
Despite these past experiences, Flanagan remains eager to reprise her role, saying she feels 'very lucky' to have had opportunities in her career and describing herself as a 'normal Northern, down to earth mum.'
