Netflix has confirmed that filming for the third season of the beloved British teen drama Heartstopper is now underway. The announcement came exactly two months after the second series debuted to widespread acclaim from both fans and critics.
The streaming platform shared the news on social media, posting a photo of author Alice Oseman holding a clapperboard featuring the show's title. Eagle-eyed fans noticed the clapperboard included an illustration of protagonists Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), along with four autumn leaves in the caption, sparking speculation about a potential fourth season.
Oseman, who created the LGBTQ+ webcomic that inspired the series, expressed her excitement in a Netflix press release. “We were overjoyed with the global reaction to Heartstopper and can’t wait to continue the story with two more seasons,” she said.
Filming locations are expected to include Windsor and Maidenhead, as in previous seasons. The first episode of Season 3 will be titled 'Love' and is anticipated to pick up from the cliffhanger of Season 2, which saw Charlie typing 'I love you' to Nick without sending it. The new season is speculated to premiere in August 2024.
