John Torode has been dropped from MasterChef, following his former co-host Gregg Wallace, who was sacked earlier this year. Despite their on-screen rapport, Torode previously revealed the pair did not socialise outside work, saying they had never visited each other's homes or gone to the pub together.
During an appearance on Desert Island Discs, Torode described Wallace as a friend but added he 'wouldn't know what to do' with him due to 'these behavioural things he does'. Wallace was removed from the show in December 2024 after allegations of misconduct dating back to 2018.
A report published in July 2025 upheld 45 of 83 allegations spanning 19 years, including sexually explicit comments and unwanted physical contact. Wallace stated he had been cleared of the 'most serious and sensational accusations' and accused the BBC of 'peddling baseless and sensationalised gossip'.
Less than a week after that report, Torode was also dropped following an allegation of using racist language. Torode said he had no recollection of the incident and criticised the lack of due process, noting the enquiry could not specify a date or year for the alleged remark.
In a statement, Torode expressed his love for the show over 20 years, saying 'it’s time to pass the cutlery to someone else'. He will now focus on other projects.
