Gordon Ramsay in Talks with ITV to Reboot Hell's Kitchen UK After 17 Years
Gordon Ramsay in Talks to Reboot Hell's Kitchen UK

Gordon Ramsay has revealed he is in talks with ITV for a reboot of one of his iconic shows, nearly two decades after it was taken off air. The celebrity chef shared the "good news" that Hell's Kitchen UK could be making a comeback, 17 years after its cancellation.

The 59-year-old chef admitted he believes the show will return to the UK and exclaimed it's "about time." He claimed that people across the country continuously ask him when the show will come back.

Speaking to The Sun, Gordon said: "I can tell you exclusively, I think we're gonna come back to the UK with Hell's Kitchen live next year."

He added: "We've been filming out here [America] for the last three weeks. We've just finished Hell's Kitchen [US] season 25 – ITV gave birth to this thing twenty years ago when we went live. What the f*** they were thinking sending me live for sixteen nights with Al Murray…"

Hell's Kitchen UK first aired in 2004, with Gordon Ramsay as head chef. However, he left the show before the second series began, and replacements Gary Rhodes and Jean-Christophe Novell took over. Without Ramsay, the show lacked its signature intensity.

Since leaving the UK version, Ramsay has served as executive chef for the American adaptation, which has enjoyed 20 years of success. The chef is known for his honest and often fiery opinions, from iconic phrases like "idiot sandwich" to his frequent outbursts, creating a persona of a formidable star. He also possesses extensive culinary expertise.

Recently, Ramsay opened a Hell's Kitchen diner in London's Cumberland Hotel, a restaurant inspired by the TV show. He has also urged the UK to stop ordering a dish that is only good on paper, advising diners to avoid soup specials. He indicated they are often leftovers served repeatedly.

Speaking to Town and Country, Ramsay revealed: "Ask what yesterday's soup du jour was before today's special. It may be the case that it's the soup du month."

Similar advice has been given by other famous chefs. The late Anthony Bourdain warned readers of Kitchen Confidential against ordering fish on Mondays, as fish specials may have been sitting in the kitchen since Friday. Since many fish markets close on weekends, Monday dishes might not be as fresh as they appear. While not always the case, it is worth keeping in mind when dining out.
