Gogglebox star Jenny Newby delighted viewers on Friday night as she unveiled a special look ahead of watching the first episode of the final series of Peaky Blinders. The 65-year-old donned a baker boy hat, prompting co-star Lee Riley, 51, to burst into laughter as she took her seat beside him.
Explaining her outfit choice, Jenny told Lee: “Do you know, Lee, I bought this two years ago. I never had the chance to wear it so I thought I'd wear it tonight.” Fans quickly took to Twitter to praise her humour, with one writing: “Telly moment of the week - thanks for all the laughs during such dark times,” while another said: “Jenny is an absolute hoot! So cute in her cap.”
It comes after a recent episode saw Jenny shock Lee by confessing to buying him a gift from a sex shop in Benidorm. Presenting him with a mug featuring a rainbow flag and the slogan “I'm so gay, I can't even drink straight!”, Lee turned to her and asked: “What was you doing in a sex shop in Benidorm?” Fans found the moment hilarious, with one joking: “'I saw it in the window' Oh aye Jenny, we believe you.”
Meanwhile, the show welcomed its first Scottish participants last week. Glasgow-based Roisin Kelly, 23, and Joe Kyle, 25, joined the cast following a Channel 4 appeal. However, some viewers struggled to understand their accents, with several requesting subtitles on Twitter.
