Yvie Jones, a former star of the Australian version of Gogglebox, has disclosed that financial difficulties were the primary reason she and her co-star Angie Kent left the show in December 2018.
Speaking to TV Tonight, Jones explained that the show's restrictive policies prevented them from earning additional income through endorsements or social media affiliations. 'We couldn't endorse anything, we couldn't tag anyone, there were no affiliations. I respect that, but cover us financially,' she said.
Jones revealed that the show did not pay appearance fees; instead, a location fee was provided to the homeowner. 'Your house gets the fee. We were losing money,' she stated, adding that they had to turn down lucrative offers due to their contract.
Since leaving Gogglebox, Jones and Kent have pursued other opportunities. Jones is set to fill in for Fifi Box on Fox FM's radio show, while Kent will star as the next Bachelorette. Both also appeared on Network 10's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.
