Gogglebox's Dave and Shirley Share Heartwarming Dog Update After Surgery
Gogglebox's Dave and Shirley give emotional dog update

Beloved Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley Griffiths have received an outpouring of support from fans after sharing an emotional update on their dog's health following a major operation.

Fans Rally Around After Surgery Announcement

The Welsh couple, who have been married for 50 years and joined the hit Channel 4 show in 2015, are devoted dog lovers with two French Bulldogs named Rupert and Bleu. In July of this year, they revealed that their pet Rupert had to undergo spinal surgery, leaving their 212,000 Instagram followers concerned for his wellbeing.

This week, several months after the procedure, Dave and Shirley posted a cheerful new update that showed Rupert on the mend. The adorable photo featured both dogs dressed in festive winter jumpers, ready for the colder weather. They captioned the post: “All ready for winter walks.”

An Adorable Recovery and Fan Delight

The heartwarming image was quickly flooded with supportive comments from relieved followers. One fan wrote: “Ah they look so cute, all ready for walkies,” while another added: “Omg they are gorgeous.” A third simply called them “Little beauties.”

Rupert first became part of the Griffiths family in 2021, when the couple announced his arrival on X (formerly Twitter) as a “new partner in crime” for their other dog, Bleu.

Gogglebox Returns With New Faces

Meanwhile, Dave and Shirley have returned to our screens for the new series of Gogglebox, which began airing earlier this year. The show has seen some cast changes, however, with fan favourites Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle announcing in July that they would not be returning.

Their departure has paved the way for several new families to join the programme, including:

  • Jake and Calum from Glasgow
  • The Gordon family from Surrey
  • Married couple Andrew and Alfie from the Cotswolds
  • Mother-and-daughter-in-law duo Sara and Lara from Yorkshire

Gogglebox continues to air every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
