Good Morning Britain Star James Gooderson Quits for US Role
GMB Star James Gooderson Quits for Washington Job

James Gooderson, a presenter on Good Morning Britain (GMB), has announced he is leaving the ITV show to take up a new position in the United States. He revealed his departure on LinkedIn, stating he will join Feature Story News as a Washington Correspondent.

New Role in Washington

In his LinkedIn post, Gooderson said: "After a fantastic 3 years at ITV and ITV News, I've joined Feature Story News as a Washington Correspondent. I'll be working out of the DC office, covering President Trump and the latest political news on Capitol Hill for a number of international news clients. Alongside reporting in Washington, I'll also be reporting across the US ahead of the midterms. Can't wait to get started!"

Gooderson first appeared on ITV three years ago and has since featured across ITV News, ITVX, and GMB.

Recent Departures and Budget Cuts

Last week, presenters Ed Balls and Susanna Reid bid farewell to director Stuart Earl, who worked on GMB for ten years. Susanna said: "We just want to, before we go, say a huge goodbye to our amazing director, Stuart. He's getting on his motorbike and he's off, he's going to be riding over some mountains somewhere. But he's been with us for ten years and we are grateful for every minute. Stuart, thank you. Good luck, goodbye." Ed added: "Stuart, you are a total genius. You have been so brilliant. You support us so much, thank you very, very much."

Good Morning Britain, along with other ITV programmes, has faced significant budget reductions since the end of 2025. In January, GMB relocated from Television Centre to more compact studio facilities, accompanied by Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women. Lorraine Kelly's show was reduced from one hour to 30 minutes and now broadcasts for only 30 weeks annually instead of 52.

Current Presenter Lineup

Susanna Reid, Ed Balls, Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh, and Richard Madeley continue to rotate as regular presenters of Good Morning Britain. Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard remain at the helm of This Morning, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary serving as relief hosts.
