Tensions flared on GB News on Monday as presenter Nana Akua locked horns with political commentator Jonathan Lis. The pair were discussing the UK's migration crisis when Jonathan dismissed Nigel Farage's suggestion to deploy the Navy to manage small boat crossings.
Heated Exchange Over Navy Proposal
"The Reform plan fails at every single hurdle," he started. "And it's not just me who's saying that, it's people who are actually in the Royal Navy who are saying that. It's even people like Henry Bolton, the former head of UKIP, who's certainly no slouch on immigration."
"Oh, what, the great Henry Bolton?" Nana retorted. "I didn't say he was great, but he was in the army," Jonathan responded. "There are many people in the army," Nana shot back, sparking a heated exchange between the two.
Debate Spirals Into On-Air Spat
"Nana, if you take the Royal Navy, the first thing about the Royal Navy is that they are not allowed to fire at unarmed civilians," the commentator pointed out. "They're not going to fire at anybody," the GB News journalist countered, reports the Express.
As Jonathan argued that there would be no point in deploying the Navy, Nana interjected, "Nobody's talking about using guns."
With tensions escalating live on air, the pair descended into a fiery debate, talking over each other. Attempting to quell the argument, Jonathan told Nana, "Let's stop..." which clearly hit a nerve.
"I'm gonna stop you there, Jonathan!" Nana declared. "Jonathan, don't talk over me. Alright, I'll decide how this runs, not you."
Viewers Rally Around Nana
After the on-air spat, viewers rallied around Nana on X. "Jonathan is in the wrong job; he gets too condescending and hysterical, the GB News presenters are constantly having to rein him in when his temper gets the better of him," one viewer commented.
