GB News Editorial Director Michael Booker has revealed his true feelings about former colleague Dan Wootton, saying he couldn't care less about his criticism. In an interview with the Daily Expresso podcast, Booker was asked for his response to Wootton's criticism of GB News.
Booker's response
Booker said: "I've worked with Dan for a few years. He's a great broadcaster. He seems to be very successful with what he's doing, and if that's what's going to make him successful, then good luck to him. But all I think about when I wake up every morning is what we're doing."
He concluded: "I couldn't care less what anyone else is doing, what anyone is saying about us."
Wootton's exit
Wootton, 43, left GB News in 2024 after media regulator Ofcom found that an episode of his show broke broadcasting rules. He was suspended in September after Laurence Fox's comments about a female journalist prompted 8,867 complaints. Ofcom ruled Fox's remarks "were clearly and unambiguously misogynistic".
Shortly after his departure, Wootton launched his own YouTube channel and posted a stormy tweet against the corporation. Responding to a fan on X, he lamented the loss of his primetime spot on mainstream TV. One fan posted: "GB News getting rid of Dan Wootton has ruined the channel. Barely watch anymore."
Dan responded to his 545,000 followers: "Really appreciate these words. It was an idiotic act of self-harm to give in to the cancel culture forces trying to destroy the 'anti-cancel culture' channel. They've let down folk like you. But the good news is that the independent media in the UK is about to explode! Let's go!"
His show, Outspoken, rivals Piers Morgan's Uncensored, which moved to YouTube after he left terrestrial television.
