Page Six Hollywood has revealed that Willimon has already completed a screenplay for the film, which will be set in the iconic world of Westeros. The plot is said to center on Aegon I, the legendary founder of the Targaryen dynasty. This character has never been depicted on screen before, despite the Targaryen family playing a central role in the original HBO series and its spin-offs, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The film's production timeline may be influenced by the pending Paramount Skydance takeover of Warner Bros.
