Freeview has confirmed another channel change, with festive programming returning to screens ahead of Christmas. The Great! Christmas channel will appear on channel 52, replacing Great! Romance.
The swap takes effect on 26 August 2026, according to Freeview. The same channel is also coming to Sky, where customers can watch via channel 32.
Festive films and channel updates
A quick look at the TV guide reveals plenty of festive viewing, with films currently including A Joyous Christmas, Christmas Getaway, Dancing Through Christmas, Mistletoe Over Manhattan and The Magical Christmas Shoe.
This follows last week's announcement that two new channels, Your TV and Your TV Extra, were launching. A number of other channels have also undergone name changes, including That's Classics (ch93) becoming Your Music.
Retune your TV
Freeview is urging viewers to retune their TVs to make sure they continue receiving all available channels and have the latest TV Guide information. "On 26th August 2026 some broadcasters are making changes to their channels," Freeview confirmed.
"You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date," Freeview added.
How to retune
To retune, press Menu on your TV or set-top box remote control. Select 'Set-up', 'Installation', 'Update' or a similar option. If asked for a PIN, check your TV's instructions, as the default code can vary by manufacturer.
Select 'First-time installation', which may also be called 'Factory reset', 'Full retune' or 'Default settings'. Press 'OK' if your equipment asks whether you want to delete existing channels. The retune should then start automatically. If prompted, save the channels that are found.
