Freeview has confirmed that two new channels, Your TV (channel 71) and Your TV extra (channel 75), are "coming soon" to the service. EE's TV platform will also receive these channels, but a search of Sky's planner currently shows no sign of the upgrade.
What's changing on Freeview
Freeview has also announced that three existing services are being renamed. That's Oldies MCR (channel 79) becomes Your TV MCR, That's 20th Century MCR (channel 86) switches to Your TV Extra MCR, and That's Classics (channel 93) becomes Your Music.
"Some broadcasters are making changes to their channels," Freeview confirmed. "Channels are constantly evolving on Freeview with individual channels making the decision to move, add or remove channels. Freeview continues to ensure that audiences can enjoy a rich and varied content."
Retuning your TV
Homes that have not yet seen the channel changes must retune their screens. "You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date," Freeview added.
To retune, press the menu button on the remote, select 'set-up', 'installation', 'update' or a similar option. If asked for a password, the default code is '1234' or '0000'. Select 'first-time installation' (sometimes called 'factory reset', 'full retune' or 'default settings'), then press 'OK' if prompted to delete existing channels, and the retune should start automatically. If prompted, save the channels that are found.
Background on Your TV
A service with the same name first launched in 2015 on Freeview, YouView, Freesat and Sky, featuring real-life shows including Baking Good, Baking Bad, Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns and Rescue: Special Ops. That channel closed in 2019. The current programme lineup for the new Your TV channels has not yet been displayed in the TV guide, but that should change once the service officially launches in the coming weeks.
