After a 22-year wait, the sequel to Disney's Freaky Friday has finally arrived. Freakier Friday, released on August 8, sees Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprise their roles as mother-daughter duo Anna and Tess, now set decades after the original.
The film follows Anna as a single mother to teenage Harper (Julia Butters). When she falls in love with fellow single parent Eric (Manny Jacinto), they decide to blend their families, but managing two teenage girls proves challenging, leading to the return of the body-swapping magic.
Viewers wondering whether to stay for a post-credits scene will be rewarded with a nostalgic blooper reel. The outtakes showcase the cast's camaraderie and are a throwback to 2000s-era films, though they do not advance the plot.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan have maintained a close friendship since the original film. At the London premiere, Curtis emphasised they were not 'reuniting' but had remained 'united'. Lohan told Entertainment Weekly she felt 'lucky' to work again with someone she admires on a personal level.
