Frank Skinner was visibly emotional during Saturday's episode of Michael McIntyre's Big Show, as he was reunited with the doctor who delivered his son 13 years ago. The comedian, appearing as the opening guest on the BBC One programme, took part in the 'Remember Me' segment, where celebrities identify figures from their past who emerge from a trapdoor on stage.
The first two guests were Shayda, Skinner's optician, and Jeff, a former primary school classmate. However, it was the third surprise — Cathy, the doctor who performed an emergency caesarean section for Skinner's wife — that reduced the comedian to tears. As Cathy walked onto the stage, Skinner immediately recognised her and asked, 'If you are who I think you are, are you Cathy?' The audience erupted in applause.
Skinner, wiping away tears, explained the connection: 'This is Cathy, Cathy delivered my baby, and he's actually here tonight, he's 13 now. It was actually an emergency caesarean, and Cathy put her scrubs on and was totally in control, and handed me this beautiful baby.' He left his seat in the Royal box to embrace Cathy on stage, thanking her repeatedly. 'What an amazing woman she is, honestly. You handed me the most amazing gift I have ever had in my entire life, Cathy. Thank you so much,' he said.
Viewers were deeply moved by the heartfelt reunion, with many taking to social media to express their emotions. One fan wrote on X: 'Well, I didn't have blubbing at Frank Skinner on my bingo card EVER #michaelmcintyresbigshow.' Another commented: 'Not me crying cos Frank Skinner is crying cos Cathy is there who delivered his son 13 yrs ago.' Michael McIntyre's Big Show airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and iPlayer.
