Forever Home premiere in Newcastle as Northumberland-shot drama hits Channel 5
Forever Home premiere set for Newcastle after Northumberland filming

The cast and crew of Forever Home, the new Channel 5 drama shot in Northumberland, will gather in Newcastle for a special North East premiere at the end of next week. The screening event will take place at Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle city centre on Friday, September 4, where guests will watch the first episode.

Who is in the cast?

Cast members include Geordie acting legend Denise Welch and Strictly high scorer Lewis Cope, although attendees for the event have yet to be confirmed. Former Waterloo Road star Denise, last seen on TV in Channel 5's Benidorm is Murder, plays the mother of Carol, a role taken on by ex Emmerdale actress Amy Nuttall, who was also in The Feud. Her on screen partner is played by ex Shetland leading man Douglas Henshall, with Hartlepool born Strictly contestant Lewis, who was also in Vera and Emmerdale, playing Kaden Barrie in Forever Home.

Other well known faces in the drama's cast include Auf Wiedersehen Pet favourite Kevin Whately, who has shared a stage with Denise at Sunday for Sammy in Newcastle on many occasions. Kevin has just been busy filming another show in the North East - The Northumbria Mysteries - alongside Robson Green, with the new crime drama set to air on the BBC next year.

What is Forever Home about?

Forever Home is based on the book of the same name from famous TV presenter and Eurovision commentator Graham Norton. When her older partner Robert's dementia worsens, Carol Crottie starts to wonder if the reason he won't leave his home has something to do with the whereabouts of his first wife, who ran off with Robert's brother 20 years ago, leaving behind their two young children Kaden and Sally. When Robert's anxiety about the house's hidden basement rises, Carol's curiosity is piqued as she and her mother investigate the whereabouts of Robert's first wife, Joan. But the secrets Robert has kept will take a long time to untangle.

Filming locations in Northumberland

Filming locations for Forever Home included Stocksfield and Hexham, where Denise delighted staff at local Indian restaurant Zyka when she popped in for a curry after a busy day of filming. The drama comes after a great few years for TV series shot in the region, with Jill Halfpenny and Gavin & Stacey legend Larry Lamb leading the cast as Channel 5 next door neighbour thriller The Feud filmed in the likes of Benton, Jarrow and Heaton, and another 5 series - The Fortune - featuring Stockton's own Callum Woodhouse, filmed in Teesside, ahead of its debut on TV earlier this summer.
