As summer ends and autumn approaches, many will start the hunt for their next binge-watch series on Netflix. With darker weather settling in, a lot of people enjoy curling up on the sofa with a plan for the evening that involves nothing but watching back-to-back episodes of a great TV show.
However, with so much available on a host of streaming services, half the battle is the task of actually finding something decent to watch. That's why we've compiled a list of popular shows that are currently streaming on Netflix to save you the hassle of doing it yourself. All of these selected programmes are also highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning they are more than likely to be actually worth a watch.
Legends
The 2026 Netflix crime thriller series Legends follows a group of ordinary British customs officers recruited for a dangerous, top-secret mission to infiltrate and dismantle violent drug cartels in early-1990s Britain. Inspired by an untold true story, the team of civil servants are thrust undercover to topple the gangs bringing the drugs to the streets.
Created by Scots screenwriter Neil Forsyth, Legends starring Tom Burke and Steve Coogan scores an impressive 97 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. One review read: "This is actually exceptionally good and feels very different from other crime dramas on Netflix."
Black Doves
This 2024 spy-action thriller series may not be the newest show on the block but a second season is coming in 2026 and those who haven't seen the first are certainly missing out. Black Doves starring Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw tells the story of a professional undercover spy embedded as the wife of a high-ranking British politician.
For a decade, Helen (Knightley) has secretly passed classified government secrets from her husband to her employers but when her secret lover is assassinated, she finds herself in immediate danger. Black Doves scores an impressive 91 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes with the highly anticipated second season set to premiere in the coming months. One fan wrote of the series: "Loved this show! Stellar cast. Must see."
How To Get To Heaven From Belfast
The comedy-thriller series How To Get To Heaven from Belfast tells the story of three lifelong pals who embark on a chaotic quest to solve the mystery of their old friend's suspicious death while keeping their own dark secret under wraps. Released on Netflix in February 2026, the series stars Irish icons Caoilfhionn Dunne, Roisin Gallagher and Sinéad Keenan.
Written by the creator of Derry Girls, Lisa McGee, the programme scores 95 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. One fan wrote: "This show was such a delightful escape. The main cast is hilarious and have impeccable chemistry. I enjoyed learning about Irish culture and history. I’m craving a second season! Hoping Netflix does the right thing and renews."
Blood Sacrifice
Swedish crime thriller Blood Sacrifice is one of the newer titles on Netflix, having just landed last week on August 20. Starring Jakob Oftebro and Peter Andersson, the show follows Detective Berg who has given up on his absent ex-cop father until a double police murder forces them back together. The 2026 programme has scored 86 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes within the first week. One review read: "A good show on so many levels."
Death Of The Pastor's Wife
Those looking for a true-crime documentary rather than a TV show can tune into the Death Of The Pastor's Wife, which landed on Netflix on August 16. This three-part series documents Mica Miller's life and death, who was the wife of pastor John-Paul Miller. Miller was accused of stalking and harassing his estranged wife before her mysterious death in April 2024.
The docuseries features new footage, family interviews, allegations of control, circumstances of Mica's mysterious death and the ongoing search for answers. While the programme is too new to have generated a Rotten Tomatoes score, viewers on X have hailed it a 'wild' watch. One wrote: "Death of a Pastor's wife on Netflix, what a documentary. He was a proper red flag from the very minute."
