Fiona Dolman has spoken about her 15-year collaboration with Neil Dudgeon on the ITV drama Midsomer Murders, where she plays his on-screen wife, Sarah Barnaby. The 56-year-old actress appears in a repeat episode of Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh this Sunday, discussing the series at length.
Instant Chemistry on Set
Host Alan Titchmarsh, 77, noted during the episode, originally broadcast in 2022: "There is clearly a great rapport with you and Neil, you clearly get on with one another!"
Dolman agreed: "Yeah! We got on from, I think, day one really, he is a fantastically good actor, and he is great fun to work with. There is a real naughtiness, and we'll discuss how we are going to do something, and then he'll just throw something slightly different. So we have a lot of fun playing them, but obviously it is 10 years [at the time], and you don't get that a lot as an actor, so it means that we sort of fall into that role of being that old married couple. You do slightly bicker, and I'll get a script through the post, and I'll read it, and I can, I laugh because I can see what he is going to do or how he is going to say something!"
Neil Dudgeon’s Arrival
Neil Dudgeon joined Midsomer Murders in 2010 as DCI John Barnaby, cousin of the original lead Tom Barnaby played by John Nettles. Nettles retired at the end of the 13th series in 2010, paving the way for Dudgeon's character.
