Fans of Netflix's Bridgerton have noticed a curious anachronism in the first episode of the fourth season. During the masquerade ball scene, character Araminta, played by Katie Leung, appears to have a small bandage on her left ear, presumably covering a modern ear piercing.
The error was flagged by TikTok user @chelsi_or_yesi, whose video has been viewed tens of thousands of times. The show is set in the 17th century, but adhesive plasters were not invented until 1920, making the presence of a bandage a historical inaccuracy.
Some fans have defended the oversight, noting that Bridgerton is not known for strict period accuracy—its use of modern pop song string covers being a prime example. Others pointed out that high-definition televisions make it easier to spot such mistakes.
Bridgerton season four part one is currently streaming, with the final four episodes due for release on February 26. The series continues to blend Regency-era drama with modern sensibilities, much to the delight of its audience.
